This stuffed cat (number 001) is part of an unfinished series of 150+ toys that Bunny was working on when she died in January 2013. It was meant as a three-dimensional extension of our poster project of the same name.
Here is a photo of cat number 001, as it appeared on the cover of the Truth is concrete political art/artistic politics event at steirischer herbst in Graz, Austria 2012. This image was also used as part of a postcard and poster series for the same event.
Accompanying explanatory text: "The image that most often comes to mind when someone says "casualty of war" is usually that of a soldier shot by another soldier from an opposing army. In reality, over the past half-century or so, victims of wars and other violent conflicts have become increasingly civilian (and often disproportionately women and children). Bunny made this crocheted toy as part of a long-term project we began in 2011 called Figure 1. War Deaths, Traumas, and Other Miscellaneous Injuries." - p&B, 2012.
